The Tranby Project

Exterior Repaint & Refinishing

The Tranby Project is a Heritage Building in the city of Toronto. These buildings present different challenges and that’s why we love to work on them. This home was built in the late 1800’s and many of the original wood details still remain. Even the hardware on the front door is original. We decided to restore rather than replace.

This process required a lot of time and patience, but the results speak for themselves. To properly restore the wooden trims, a lot of preparation is necessary. This means scraping, sanding, filling, more sanding, etc. This cannot be accomplished off of a ladder. We used narrow scaffolding to accommodate the narrow space between the homes (something common with downtown homes). Having these platforms enabled us to properly restore these historic homes.
